Hip Hop Immortals is a mobile game in which wannabe Hip Hop stars begin their careers in beat-up apartments in the 1970s and, by earning points in the three included mini-games (MCing, Breakdancing, and Graffiti), rise to fame and fortune through the 80s, 90s and into the 00s. The MCing mini-game is the most unique of the three, consisting of a third-person view of the game's main character rapping in a setting corresponding to the character's success level and the current era of the game. The lyrics of the song scroll along the screen above the character's head, occasionally featuring blank spaces, which are filled by selecting an appropriate word using the d-pad's four direction buttons. The selection is then graded based upon speed of entry, rhyming, metre and (of course) whether the resulting lyric makes sense and points are assigned. The other two mini-games, Graffiti and Breakdancing, are a small four-screen platformer (graffiti artist at work, must evade security guards) and a head-to-head rhythm-action game against an AI dancer. The Graffiti mini-game features custom bitmap graffiti art created by famed artist Cope2 and Breakdancing is notable for its meticulous adherence strictly to moves and move combinations that can be performed in real life.
